RJAK declared its participation in the campaign "Freedom for Öcalan and a political solution to the Kurdish question".
The Kurdistan Free Women's Movement (RJAK) released a statement expressing its participation in the international campaign "Freedom for Öcalan and a political solution to the Kurdish question".
The campaign, which was launched simultaneously in over a hundred places all around the world on 10 October, unites social movements, political parties, municipalities, trade unions, activists, intellectuals and millions of Kurds and people in solidarity with the Kurdish liberation struggle worldwide around a common goal: the participation of Abdullah Öcalan in a dialogue for a just and democratic political solution to the Kurdistan question in Turkey, which has remained unresolved for more than a century.
The statement released by RJAK on Tuesday said: “As the Kurdistan Free Women's Movement, we salute the campaign launched for the freedom of Leader Apo (Abdullah Öcalan). The nation state mentality and forces of capitalist modernity have started an extended war against Leader Apo’s paradigm of Democratic Nation since they consider it to be a risk for the continuation of their existence. For this reason, they have been holding him captive on Imrali for 25 years under a system of isolation and torture, seeking to silence and choke the voice of the Kurdish people in his person. They attack Leader Apo so much because he is not a person but a people. His paradigm became a hope for the oppressed peoples and is embraced by more peoples every day. Leader Apo is the name of truth and success.”
The statement continued: “Leader Apo has been waging a great struggle against the patriarchal mindset since he was 7. He has stood against the pro-ruling mentality and traditional value judgments. His struggle is a struggle for humanity. He fights for the freedom of oppressed peoples and women. For this very reason, it is a duty of all women and humanity to demand his freedom. As RJAK, we announce our participation in the campaign launched for the physical freedom of Leader Apo and a solution to the Kurdish question. We will enhance our struggle and ensure Leader Apo’s physical freedom.”
