As part of their European tour, the theater group IMGE from Istanbul is performing their play "Benim Adım" (My Name) in several German cities. The play will be performed in Turkish with German subtitles. Afterwards, there will be discussions with the artists and regional organizers. Violence against women in Turkey, as well as the possibilities and means of self-defense of women against it will be discussed during the events.

The play itself deals with the subject of violence against women and also tells the story of self-defense. The Protagonist, Meryem, embodies the fate of three women from different generations. She tells of how she herself has put up with much throughout her life, but when she sees that her daughter faces the same fate, her resistance grows. Through the struggle for liberation, she intervenes in the course of history and at the same time tells about the many forms of violence against women.

The text and performance are by Ayşe Nur DEMİR, directed by Ahmet Uçar. German subtitles will be projected on the wall. The discussion sessions will also be translated.
