TJA spokeswoman Gökkan faces up to 35 years in prison

Prosecutor demands up to 35 years prison sentence for Free Women's Movement (TJA) Spokeswoman Ayşe Gökkan.

The 21st hearing of the trial in which the Free Women's Movement (TJA) Term Spokeswoman Ayşe Gökkan is accused of ‘being an executive of a terrorist organization’, ‘being a member of a terrorist organization’ and ‘making propaganda for a terrorist organization’ was held at the 9th High Criminal Court in Diyarbakır province on Wednesday.

While Gökkan could not attend the hearing due to a malfunction in sound and video information system (SEGBIS), her lawyers Berfin Gökkan, Özüm Vurgun and Gözde Engin were present. Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) deputies Semra Güzel, Remziye Tosun, TJA activists, Rosa Women's Association members, independent feminists and Gökkan's relatives were not allowed into the courtroom.

The prosecutor demanded that Gökkan be sentenced to from 16 up to 35 years in jail.

The court decided to continue the detention of Gökkan. The hearing was adjourned to September 13.
