TJK-E calls for participation in Strasbourg march for Öcalan's freedom

The TJK-E has called on everyone to join the march which will take place in Strasbourg on 15 February under women's leadership, urging people to turn ‘Black Day’ into a ‘Day of Freedom.’

The European Kurdish Women's Movement (TJK-E) strongly condemned the international conspiracy against Abdullah Öcalan on 15 February 1999 (the day Abdullah Öcalan was abducted in Kenya as a result of the international conspiracy). In a written statement marking the anniversary of this event, TJK-E called for mass participation in the march in Strasbourg to demand Öcalan's freedom.

The TJK-E said: "We are entering the 27th year of the international conspiracy of February 15 and the historic resistance led by Abdullah Öcalan against this conspiracy. Drawing strength from this resistance, our freedom struggle has continued under the leadership of our comrades who heroically sacrificed their lives. We salute Mr. Öcalan who demonstrated to all of humanity through his resistance in Imrali Prison and his way of life that the victory of a free human and a free life is possible.

He has instilled faith, hope, and determination at every moment of life. In the struggle against the conspiracy, we commemorate with deep respect all the revolutionary martyrs who sacrificed themselves in the 'You Cannot Darken Our Sun' actions, which embodied consciousness and will to resist the conspiracy. In their memory, we reaffirm our promise to make the achievements of the struggle for a free life and a free homeland permanent and victorious."

The statement added: "The 15 February conspiracy was carried out to prevent the expansion of our freedom struggle, which emerged in Kurdistan and later spread across the Middle East. The first step in Kurdistan was the freedom initiative, which, as Abdullah Öcalan himself described, was like cultivating roses in the cracks of rocks, an effort that required immense patience and perseverance. The conspiracy was launched as a direct response to this initiative. From the very beginning, Öcalan had anticipated all possible conspiracies and attacks with great effort and struggle.

Accordingly, he has developed the movement, strengthened its organization, and deepened its consciousness. The essence and source of strength of Öcalan's legendary, historical, and continuous fight for victory lie in this reality."

The statement continued: "Abdullah Öcalan was developing the ideology of women's freedom and institutionalizing it through a party with great effort and dedication when the February 15 conspiracy was carried out. This ideological and organizational groundwork became a historical foundation for raising awareness and resistance against the international conspiracy. The conspiracy was launched precisely to counter the vision Öcalan had pioneered, one that championed a free woman, a free life, and a free society, starting in Kurdistan and expanding across the Middle East. The ideology and struggle for women's freedom have represented a bold and historical movement against the male-dominated system and structures that have sought to perpetuate themselves for thousands of years. As this movement has grown, the patriarchal mentality and power structures have weakened. This is why the forces behind the international conspiracy targeted Mr. Öcalan."

The statement condemned "the 15 February conspiracy," and called "on our people, especially women, and all our allies to unite around Öcalan and intensify the struggle. We invite everyone to participate in the great and historic march that will take place in Strasbourg on February 15 under women's leadership, turning ‘Black day’ into a ‘Day of Freedom."
