Speaking to the ANF, Sulaymaniyah Deputy Governor and women's rights lawyer Leyla Omer Ali said that women have a lot of experience and that the resistance and struggle to get their rights should take place as soon as possible.
‘We are proud of the women of Rojava’
Ali continued: “My message is about peace and tranquillity, and for the resistance of women to achieve their hopes. Women are nothing short of men, on the contrary, we have many experiences. My message is for the success of the resistance and struggle of women to obtain their rights as soon as possible. We are proud of the women in Rojava. Because they destroyed the understanding that 'women cannot fight'. Women have become a source of pride for us by defending their country. We should eliminate the idea that 'society is an obstacle to the development of women'. As women, we must develop ourselves, and be open to new developments like other women in the world.”
Ali added: “We should be able to defend our land just like the women in Rojava. Even if it is not at the desired level, women in PUK take part in politics and work in the government."
