In the neighbourhoods of Şêxmeqûsd and Eşrefiyê in Aleppo, Kongra Star organised actions and meetings to mark 8 March, International Women’s Day.
Tens of women and civil society organization members attended a meeting in the neighbourhoods of Şêxmeqsûd and Eşrefiyê in Aleppo within the scope of the 8 March activities organized by Kongra Star throughout the region with the slogan "Our Resistance is the Guarantee of the Women's Struggle".
Amîna Xidir, one of the executive of Kongra Star Şêxmeqsûd and Eşrefiyê Coordination, touched on the historical importance of March 8. She said that the capitalist states are pursuing a policy of weakening the values of society and nature and want to implement this policy and void 8 March.
Xidir continued: “The purpose of implementing this policy is to make us forget the history of resistance and the struggle it is based on. However, this will not work. Women will resist this too. If we concentrate our struggle in all areas of life, this year will be the year of liberation for women, the struggle and the end of genocide."
Xidir added: “Women in North and East Syria have understood the meaning of women's liberation in the last decade. A few months ago, our comrades Seda and Hind were brutally murdered for not giving up their love for women's freedom. We celebrate March 8 with the spirit of our two martyrs in Northern and Eastern Syria, the center of the women's revolution."
People were then shown a video about the historical process of March 8 and the role of women in the Rojava Revolution.
