Within the framework of solidarity with the international campaign for the freedom of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan, the first issue of the magazine ‘El Oma El Dimoqratiye (Democratic Nation)’ was published in Cairo with the initiative of Prof. Mihemed Rifat El İmam, lecturer of Contemporary History at Demenhur University in Egypt, and many academics, writers and intellectuals who have studied Abdullah Öcalan's ideas.
Speaking to ANF, Prof. Mihemed Rifat El Imam said the following about the magazine: “I have been thinking for some time about creating a cultural magazine about the thoughts of Leader Abdullah Öcalan, Kurdish issues and Arab-Kurdish relations, because Leader Abdullah Öcalan has a humanitarian impact that transcends borders and minorities and resonates all over the world.”
Referring to the objective of the journal, El-Imam said: “We want to present a balanced scientific perspective on the Kurdish question, Middle Eastern issues and international issues. Leader Abdullah Öcalan's ideas are a general project not only for the Kurdish question, but also for the Middle East and, above all, for the Palestinian question. We chose the name ‘Democratic Nation’ because, in addition to women's liberation and ecology, this is the main theme of Leader Abdullah Öcalan's peace project.”
The first issue of the magazine features many rich articles inspired by the books of Abdullah Öcalan, including ‘Öcalan… The Role of Thought in Criticising the State’ by Researcher Ahmed Mihemed Inbiyowe, ‘Öcalan project is the fundamental point of rereading history’ by researcher Dr Eli Sabit Sabri and ’Kurdish history and identity... Reading scientific studies at Egyptian universities’ by researcher Hedir Mesed Etiye.
