Activists in Ranya and Kelar pay tribute to Paris Martyrs

Commemoration events were held in Ranya and Kelar on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the killings of Sakine Cansız, Fidan Doğan and Leyla Şaylemez, in Paris.

Commemoration events were held in the Ranya and Kelar, in Sulaymaniyah on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the killings of PKK founder Sakine Cansız, KNK member Fidan Doğan and Youth Movement member Leyla Şaylemez on 9 January 2013 in Paris.

The commemoration in Ranya was promoted by the Kurdistan Women's Freedom Movement (RJAK).

Mom Şadi Semed took the floor on behalf of RJAK and said that Sakine Cansız represents the soul of Dersim, Kurdistan and the PKK. “The struggle of Sakine Cansız today is recognized by many people and women all over the world. Her flag is flying in the hands of free women on every field. RJAK condemns both Paris Massacres. These massacres should be clarified and the perpetrators should be punished. France must take responsibility for these massacres and not remain silent." After the speech, a video about Sakine Cansız's life and struggle was screened.

The event in Kelar was also organized by RJAK. Speaking there, Suham Mahmud said: "A wind of revolution is blowing across Kurdistan and the Middle East these days when we commemorate Sakine Cansız, Fidan Doğan and Leyla Şaylemez who were killed in the Paris Massacre carried out in 2013. In particular, PKK founder Sakine Cansız has put up a great struggle throughout her life, from the prison of Amed to the mountains of Kurdistan.”

A video about the lives and struggles of 3 Kurdish women revolutionaries was then screened.
