The two-day curfew implemented in Southern Kurdistan (Bashur) to contain the spread of coronavirus, has been extended for another three days.

Measures to battle coronavirus started in southern Kurdistan, northern Iraq on February 27. The measures multiplied on March 13 included the restriction of non-obligatory movements for two days and suspension of local and long-distance public transport for an initial period of two weeks.
The Kurdistan Regional Government has extended the curfew for another three days on Sunday.
The previously implemented measures concerned Sulaymaniyah, Hewler (Erbil) and Duhok and all towns and villages belonging to them. The new measure involves Halabja and surroundings as well.
29 Corona cases have been confirmed so far in Southern Kurdistan where schools, universities, theatres, museums, administrations and sports facilities have been closed for weeks.
