HPG reports ongoing guerrilla resistance

The Turkish army attacked guerrilla positions in the Zap region with chemical weapons and unconventional bombs over twenty times in the past two days.

The Turkish army has attacked guerrilla positions in the strategically important area of Çemço in Southern Kurdistan with chemical weapons and unconventional bombs more than twenty times in the past two days. According to the People's Defence Forces (HPG), 13 sorties with prohibited weapons took place in the area in the district of Sheladize near the town of Amadiya on 12 January, and chemical weapons and a prohibited bomb were used seven times on 13 January. In addition, the positions in Çemço and nearby Sîda were attacked dozens of times with howitzers, mortars, tanks and heavy weapons.

The guerrillas continue to resist the Turkish occupation forces and carried out three actions with heavy weapons in Çemço on Thursday and Friday. According to the HPG press centre, one soldier was killed in the process.

The HPG also reported five airstrikes by the Turkish army on Gûndê Sêdarê in Gare, Golka in Metîna and the Lolan shore in Xakurke. Artillery attacks were directed against Xakurke and the Girê FM resistance area on Friday.
