HPG: Turkish attacks aim to depopulate the entire region

“Those who turn a blind eye to these attacks by the Turkish state and thus conduce to civilian deaths are accomplices in this crime as much as the occupiers themselves,” said the HPG regarding Turkey’s deadly attacks against southern Kurdistan.

The Press Center of People's Defense Forces (HPG) released a statement reporting two guerilla actions in northern Kurdistan and informing about the continued air raids of the Turkish army on guerrilla zones in southern Kurdistan, northern Iraq.

According to the statement, HPG guerrillas carried out an action against the Turkish army in Doğubayazıt (Bazid) district of Ağrı as part of the Revolutionary Victory Initiative ongoing in Serhat region.

At 04:30 on June 26, guerrillas hit the Bubo outpost, leaving several soldiers dead and 3 A4 machine guns destroyed. After retrieving the casualties from the scene, the Turkish army bombed the area at random with heavy weaponry.

On the same day, as part of the ongoing Martyr Bager and Martyr Ronya Revolutionary Initiative, guerrillas targeted the Turkish soldiers stationed at a checkpoint in Derava Qesranê area located between Hakkari and its Çukurca (Çele) district.

HPG said the positions and armored vehicles of the enemy forces here were hit and a soldier was killed.

Air raids on guerrilla zones

Reporting on the recent attacks by the Turkish Air Force on the Medya Defense Zones, HPG Press Office said that Turkish fighter jets bombed;

- the Martyr Berîtan area in Xakurke region at 07.50 on June 27,

- the Kesta area and Martyr Piling Hill in Metina region between 01.00 and 03.00 on June 26.

On the other hand, HPG reported that the bombardment carried out by Turkish warplanes at around 13:30 yesterday, has started a fire in the forests in Kunishka area of Zap region.

Civilian killed in air raid

Yesterday, according to the HPG statement, two civilian cars were also bombed by Turkish jets near the village of Goshine in Xakurke region. A civilian named Mansur Nafih lost his life while three other civilians were injured in the attack.

HPG stressed that with its attacks on civilians, the Turkish state seeks to depopulate the entire region and gain the control of all of South Kurdistan;

"The deliberate attack once again shows that the occupiers are not only against the Liberation Movement, but against the population in the entire region. The fascist Turkish state has repeatedly carried out direct attacks on civilians and residential areas, exposing not only its hostility against Kurds but also its desire to depopulate the whole region. With his invasion operation, it wants to achieve complete control of Southern Kurdistan, and to place the entire population under its tyrant and colonial rule. Those who turn a blind eye to these attacks by the Turkish state and thus conduce to civilian deaths are accomplices in this crime as much as the occupiers themselves. The attacks of the Turkish state totally contradict the interests of the Kurdish people and harm the Kurdish unity. Through these attacks, the occupiers also try to disrupt the national unity of the Kurds. Our people should stand against these occupiers who have no right to attack these lands, and they should make sure that none from our people suffers a slightest harm. Kurdistan Liberation Guerrillas, we will not leave an attack on the Kurdish people unanswered. We extend our condolences to the family of Mansur Nafih and the entire people of Southern Kurdistan.”
