Mehmet Zeki Çelebi will be laid to rest in North Kurdistan

Mehmet Zeki Çelebi, who was murdered in an armed attack in South Kurdistan, will be laid to rest in North Kurdistan. He will be sent off to Van after a ceremony.

Political refugee Mehmet Zeki Çelebi from North Kurdistan was attacked by two killers in front of his restaurant on Bakhtiari street in Sulaymaniyah on the night of 17 May. He died of the injuries he sustained on the evening of 18 May at the Shahr Hospital.

Mehmet Zeki Çelebi will be sent off to Van in North Kurdistan today.

According to the information provided by the Mesopotamia Workers' Association, of which Çelebi was a member, the remains of the well known and much loved father of two will be taken from Sulaymaniyah Forensic Medicine Institute this morning and will be taken to the Deniz Restaurant where a ceremony will be held.

After the ceremony Çelebi's body will be taken to the Ehmedê Heci Eli mosque behind the City Center with a march, and a convoy to North Kurdistan will set off from there. The Çelebi will be taken to the Koyê checkpoint.
