Reconnaissance flights have been taking place over the Maxmur refugee camp in southern Kurdistan, northern Iraq since Thursday noon.
While it is not known to which state the fighter jets belong, neither the Iraqi central government nor the Kurdish regional government has made any statement. The International Coalition did not issue any statement on the aerial activity either.
On April 15, three women were killed in Maxmur in a drone attack by the Turkish army. The ISIS has also increased its presence in the region in recent days.
After the killing in Hewlêr of Osman Köse, a MİT [Turkish Secret Service] official in South Kurdistan, on 17 July 2019, the KDP imposed an embargo on Maxmur Refugee Camp using this murder as a pretext.
In the 9 months since the embargo, nobody is allowed to leave the camp, including serious ill people, pregnant women, students and those working in the surrounding area.
