SDF: 300 ISIS members surrendered in Sina Prison in Heseke

During clashes, 8 terrorists were eliminated, while one SDF fighter was martyred.

The Media Center of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) released a statement providing latest information from the northern Syrian city of Heseke after on January 20, ISIS attacked the Sinaa prison in Hesekê, where thousands of ISIS members are held. 

According to reports, 175 ISIS members and detainees who tried to escape were killed in the last three days. 27 Internal Security Forces members and SDF fighters were martyred following the attacks and clashes. In addition, more than 100 ISIS members who tried to escape from the prison and 10 ISIS members who took part in the attack were caught.

The SDF statement on Monday includes the following:

“After the call for safe surrender and to hand over their arms, at 5 a.m., our forces raided and controlled one of the prison buildings where these terrorist mutineers barricaded. As a result, about 300 mutineers surrendered to our forces. The operation is ongoing as planned.

Moreover, our forces and Internal Security Forces continue the sweep operation conducted in the Geweran neighborhood, tracking down the terrorist cells that have tried to support the terrorist mutineers in the prison. Our forces show a high level of accuracy and caution for the safety of civilians who were used as human shields at some points held by these terrorist cells. During the clashes, 8 terrorists were eliminated. On the other hand, one of our fighters was martyred.”
