The Shengal Defense Units (YBŞ) General Command said in a written statement: “7 years ago, ISIS mercenaries carried out a massacre against our people. Our people resisted with great will against these massacres. This resistance nullified all the calculations of our enemies. We will always feel indebted, especially to the price paid by the freedom guerrillas. Egid Civyan, Mam Zeki, Dilşêr Herekol and many more heroes came to the aid of our people under the most severe conditions.”

The YBŞ added: “We will crown this struggle with victory on the path and line drawn by our heroes. We will bring success to the struggle that our martyrs handed over to us.

On this basis, on the anniversary of the liberation of Shengal, we once again congratulate Leader Apo, the martyrs, the families of the martyrs, our people, the YPG-YPJ forces and the freedom guerrillas who are making history in the mountains today.”
