15 people including Peace Mothers detained in İzmir

The number of those detained in today’s political genocide operation in İzmir rose to 15.

Turkish police carried out simultaneous house raids as part of a political genocide operation against administrators and members of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) in the western province of İzmir Friday morning. The detainees include 67-year-old Cemile Aydın and 60-year-old Behiye Yalçın.

Reports suggest that a “confidential order” has been placed on the investigation.

The Initiative of 78’s Spokesperson Celalettin Can who was taken into custody in Istanbul in the scope of the same investigation is expected to be taken to İzmir this evening.
