Kurdish institutions working in Armenia came together at the Kurdistan Committee Office to discuss the coronavirus epidemic and what measures to take.

At the meeting the decision was taken to cancel the main Newroz celebration which had been planned for 21 March in the capital Yerevan.

The statement issued at the end of the meeting said: "We announce that we do not consider it appropriate to hold a mass event that could negatively affect the health conditions of our people.

Therefore we have decided to cancel the Newroz celebration as a measure of responsibility."

The following institutions attended the meeting: "Armenia Kurdistan People's Union (Şêwra Gelê Kurdên Li Armeniaê), Kurdistan Committee, Armenian Free Women's Union (YJA), Zagros and Rêya Taze newspapers."
