UNESCO/ICOMOS Joint missions observe closely the issue of preparing a management plan for world heritage areas in Istanbul.
A search conference started on 20 July in order to establish a common intelligence for the Management Plan for Istanbul Historical Peninsula initiated in cooperation with Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture Agency and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.
Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture Agency, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, local administrations, UNESCO National Committee, ICOMOS representatives and NGOs came together at Haliç Congress Center on 20-21 July for the Search Conference aiming at establishing a collective intelligence.
The conference was started with opening remarks by Feyzullah Özcan the Vice-Governor of Istanbul and Sekib Avdagiç the Chairman of Executive Board of Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture Agency.
Sessions held on the first day of the conference, an effort was put forward to search for a common intelligence for determining a management plan, vision, mission, principles and targets for the Historical Peninsula with participation of representatives from authorized institutions and organizations as well as civil society organizations, vocational associations, academics and people who live and work in the area.
