Diplomacy by Yazidi institutions in Germany for Shengal

Representatives of Yazidi institutions in Germany hold a series of meetings in the capital Berlin for the cancellation of the agreement between Baghdad and the Hewler governments regarding Shengal.

Yazidi institutions in Germany have taken action for the cancellation of the agreement made between the Central Iraqi government and Southern Kurdistan Regional Government on Shengal. The institutions focus on diplomacy as well as demonstrations, marches and vigils. In addition to face to face meetings, the Yazidis emphasize that they would not accept the Shengal agreement in the dossiers they have prepared to submit.

A delegation consisting of representatives of the Center of the Union of Yazidi Associations in Germany (NAV-YEK), the Federation of the Yazidi Women Assembly (SMJÊ), the Shengal Council in Diaspora (MŞD) and the Syrian Yazidi Union (YÊS) have been holding talks in the capital Berlin for two days. During the talks, which coincided with the arrival of Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi to capital Berlin, the Yazidi representatives called for the federal government under Angela Merkel's prime ministry to act for Shengal.

ON THE AGENDA OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS COMMITTEE

Representatives of Yazidi institutions held the most important meeting with the Committee on Foreign Affairs in the Federal Parliament. The dossier submitted by the Yazidis, who met with the commission officials that included 22 members from all parties in the parliament and was headed by the ruling party CDU member Norbert Röttgen, has been accepted. It is reported that the authorities will duplicate the dossier for all commission members and will bring the demands to the agenda of the commission.

DOSSIER SUBMITTED TO MERKEL

Yazidi representatives held another meeting with the secretariat of Prime Minister Merkel. The representatives, who demanded that Shengal remain in the hands of Shengali people with a special status, also submitted a dossier to Merkel's advisors. The advisors reportedly stated that they would read the dossier and submit its summary to Merkel.

The delegation also met with the German Representation of the European Commission and the embassies of the USA, Britain and France and expressed their demands regarding Shengal. Meanwhile, the Shengal dossier submitted by Yazidi institutions was published in the newspaper of the European Parliament.

VIGIL TO BE FOLLOWED BY A DEMO

Many Yazidi institutions and organizations in Germany have been conducting a vigil since October 15 at Brandenburg Tor (Brandenburg Gate) Square near the German parliament in the capital Berlin to inform the public about the agreement and their rejection. The vigil takes place between 10:00 and 15:00 every day.

Thousands of leaflets have been distributed during the action, and the struggle of the Shengal and Yazidi community was explained to those who visited the historical square. The vigil will end with a mass rally to be held at 14:00 tomorrow.
