The discussion of the law concerning stone throwing children was put off this time due to the abroad trip of Minister of Justice Sadullah Ergin.
The law draft concerning the stone throwing children was postponed to 20 July as it must have been discussed at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey yesterday.
Moreover, it was reported that Minister Ergin made the following warning; “I definetely want to be at the assembly during the discussion of the law draft.”
At the new law draft prepared by the government; despite its impossibility, children are penalized with “organization membership” and children covering their faces completely or partially are penalized with “propaganda for organization”. In addition, stone throwing children are defined as “armed resistance against security powers” and this case turns out to an application resulting in heavy sentences.
Separately; Kurdish children, whose sentences are shown as “terror crime”, have to serve three fourths of their sentence before release on probation. Furthermore, children can’t benefit from their release on probation right in case of receiving disciplinary punishment three times. Recently, imprisoned Kurdish children are receiving disciplinary punishments or punishments like being transferred to other prisons.
