In the case of Wolf vs. Turkey the European Court of Human Rights has convicted Turkey for violation of the Article 2 of the Convention which protects the right to life.
The case was lodged by the mother of Adrea Wolf (Ronahi) a PKK guerrilla of German origins who was executed after being seized by the Turkish army in 1998.
The Turkish officials claimed that Adrea Wolf (Ronahi) lost her life in a clash which took place in Catak district of Van on 23 October 1998. However, the witnesses stated that she was seized alive and unarmed by the Turkish soldiers and tortured before being executed.
The mother Lilo Wolf applied Turkish authorities through her lawyer Eren Keskin however the investigation started by the public prosecutor office was dismissed soon after. The family took the case before the Strasbourg Court in 2003 and claimed their daughter is a victim of an extrajudicial killing by the Turkish Army and her grave still remains unknown.
Seven years later the Court decided that Turkish authorities have violated Article 2 of the Convention which protects the right to life.
