EU welcomes the PKK decision to disband, calls on all parties to "seize the moment"

The EU welcomed the dissolution of the PKK and reiterated its stance on finding a peaceful resolution to the Kurdish issue, EU foreign affairs spokesman Anouar El Anouni said on Monday.

The European Union called on "all parties to seize the moment" to work towards peace after the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) announced it was ending its decades-long armed struggle against the Turkish state.

"The European Union considers that launching a credible peace process, aiming for a political solution to the Kurdish issue, would be a positive step to achieve a peaceful and sustainable solution," EU foreign affairs spokesman Anouar El Anouni told reporters.
