The Human Rights Commission of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) has filed a criminal complaint against the trustee at the municipality of Amed (Diyarbakir), Hasan Basri Güzeloğlu, on the grounds of causing acute danger to the people by circulating counterfeit disinfectants throughout the metropolis.
Against the Coronavirus pandemic, mobile disinfectant dispensers had been placed in public spaces, all state offices and institutions, post offices, hospitals, the bus station and airport in Amed at the beginning of April "in order to prevent infection and provide comprehensive hand hygiene in every situation", as Güzeloğlu stated. As it turned out last week, these were ineffective hand disinfectants that do not kill the Covid-19 virus.
The scandal was uncovered by the company whose product "Aseptoman" was counterfeited. It is the manufacturer Dr. Schumacher Chemical Industry and Trade Inc., a subsidiary of the German disinfectant manufacturer Dr. Schumacher GmbH. The company has also filed criminal complaint.
