Sweden's Left Party MPs Håkan Svennelig and Amineh Kakabaveh submitted written questions to take the issue of Leyla Guven and other hunger strikers, who demand an end to the isolation imposed upon Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Ocalan, on the agenda.
Foreign Minister Margot Wallström was asked what she plans to do so the isolation is ended and political prisoners are released.
Both MPs pointed out that Leyla Guven has been imprisoned for objecting to the invasion of Afrin and criticizing the government in the written inquiries they submitted separately.
Svennelig, who is also the Left Party’s Foreign Policy Spokesperson, said in his inquiry: “Guven’s arrest is merely an example of the atmosphere that harms the opposition, journalists, intellectuals and human rights defenders.”
“INITIATIVES MUST BE TAKEN AGAINST THE ISOLATION”
The MPs said they are concerned for Leyla Guven’s health, that the isolation imposed upon Ocalan goes against international treaties and conventions, and that they demand the Swedish government to take initiative to end it.
