Al-Omar, the largest oil field in Syria, is located northeast of Deir ez-Zor. The area was liberated by Syrian Democratic Forces from ISIS on October 22. SDF forces are making further advances in the area as part of the Operation Cizire Storm launched in the north and east of Deir ez-Zor on September 9.
ISIS gangs attacked the positions of SDF fighters at the Al-Omar oil field yesterday morning. Ensuing heavy clashes continued into the noon, when the SDF forces repelled the attacks. As result of the clashes here, 10 gang members were killed, while one tank and two DShk 23mm of theirs were seized by the SDF fighters, in addition to ammunition belonging to the gangs.
The attacks against SDF forces in the Namliyah village were also repelled at noon, where eight gang members were killed.
