Maria Edgarda Marcucci, Eddi, fought with the Kurdish YPJ in defense of the canton of Afrin in 2018 which was attacked and then occupied by Turkey and its mercenaries.

A day before the second anniversary of the occupation, by Turkey, of the city of Afrin, Eddi was sentenced by a Court in Turin to special surveillance for two years.

In practice, Eddi could not leave her house from 9 pm to 7 am. She could remain in her city, but, as established by the measure introduced by the Rocco Code (during the fascist regime in Italy), she will have to hand over her passport and driving license, she will not be able to participate in meetings with more than three people, nor could she participate in assemblies and meetings.

She will have to carry with her a booklet in which the police will write down every time she will be checked.

The Court in Turin had acquitted four other Italian internationalists who had been in Rojava either to join the YPG or to carry out work in civil structures of the Autonomous Administration.
