KCDK-E establishes health committee over Corona pandemic

The Kurdish umbrella organisation KCDK-E has postponed all planned events initially by one month due to the Corona pandemic. After that, a new assessment of the situation is to take place.

The Europe-wide Kurdish umbrella organisation KCDK-E appeals to its member organisations to take responsibility for dealing with the Corona pandemic and to take the necessary protective measures. A Health Commission has been set up within the association, to which members can turn if they need information.

The annual congresses of local councils and associations planned for this spring have been postponed until 15 April for the time being. A new assessment of the situation is to take place after that. Instead of mass events, only meetings with a limited number of people are to be held to ensure that the respective work can continue. The main focus of the work will be on education about health protection measures, for this purpose there will be cooperation with doctors and experts.

In order to maintain communication within the KCDK-E structures, the association intends to hold more teleconferences. The Health Committee will provide information material to be distributed through the local Democratic Community Centres.

The Association encourages people to care for elderly and needy people and, for example, to do the shopping for them. The KCDK-E also advises to postpone weddings and similar events. People who would have to stay at home should use the time to read books and improve their Kurdish language skills via internet offers.
