Lawyer for slaughtered Armenian journalist hits out at cover up
Only the flunkies are on trial. The government is collaborating with status quo supporter army and hiding the real responsible” said the lawyer of assassinated Turkish-Armenian journalist Hrank Dink.
Although 3 and half years have passed over Hrank Dink’s assassination the real responsible behind the incident have not been brought the justice. The trial regarding the incident has not been finalised yet. The next hearing is on 12 July.
According to the lawyers Dink’s family Fethiye Çetin and Güray Dað government and the court are trying to hush up the responsible.
Fethiye Çetin also stated that: “By trying the trigger only they are hiding the responsible behind the assassination. However, we will resort all the possible legal remedies to find them out.” She further stated that they have already applied the European Court of Human Rights and waiting for the decision from the court.
Güray Dað stated that the heads Trabzon and Istanbul of security directorates of the time should also be accused rather than testifying as witnesses. He also said that “Gendarmerie Commander of Trabzon should be one of the principal perpetrators of the case. However, instead of being tried they are promoted to higher posts. That shows the immunity they enjoy.”
The family lawyers also stated that a former JITEM (Gendarmerie Intelligence Service) whose existence is denied by the officials will testify before the Amasya Court on 23 July 2010. The former member of JITEM claims that two of the accused were working JITEM too.
