One more village liberated in Deir ez-Zor operation

SDF fighters advancing in Deir ez-Zor campaign have liberated the village of Harqa northeast of Deir ez-Zor.

Making further advances in the Operation Cizire Storm launched on September 9 to liberate Deir ez-Zor territory from ISIS, YPG-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) besieged the ISIS-occupied village of Harqa 41 km northeast of Deir ez-Zor Tuesday morning.

Following fierce clashes with ISIS gangs, SDF fighters took the village under their control in the evening. 13 ISIS members were killed, and some ammunition belonging to the gangs was seized during the fighting in the village.

SDF forces continued their advance after the liberation of the Harka village, and besieged the village of al-Tilaba 40 km northeast of Deir ez-Zor. According to SDF commanders, violent clashes are taking place between SDF and ISIS in the village.

The village of Agedat 20 km southeast of Deir ez-Zor is also witnessing heavy clashes during the past two days. During Tuesday’s clashes in the village, 25 ISIS members were killed, one was captured alive and corpses of 11 remained in SDF possession, together with their arms.

A larger part of the Agedat village has been cleared of ISIS during two days of fighting and clashes continue in some areas.
