Turkish police raided several houses in the western province of İzmir in the morning and detained a number of people.
Those taken into custody include Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Aegean Region Representative Aslan Kızıl, Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Party Assembly Member Aydın Çetinkaya, Avesta Language and Culture Research Association Co-Chair Ramazan Kaygısız, Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Menemen District Co-Chair Ekrem Karakoç, Aegean Association of Families of Prisoners and Those Convicted (EGE TUHAYDER) former executives Selma Altan, Hediye Tekin and İsmet Akdemir.
Those detained on the grounds of ‘being members of an illegal organisation’ were taken to İzmir Provincial Security Directorate.
A 24-hour ‘lawyer restriction’ order was imposed on the file.
