Political genocide operation against the HDP in Mardin

HDP administrators in Mardin province have been taken into custody.

Turkish police carried out simultaneous house raids in Mardin city center and its districts early Thursday morning. The operation targeted the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) administrators as part of an investigation launched by the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Mardin.

HDP Mardin branch co-chair Ali Sincar as well as administrators Abidin Unay, Halil Yağan and Adil Başaran were taken into custody in the operation.

HDP Mardin branch co-chair Eylem Amak also had her house raided by the police but she was not found home to be detained.

The detainees were taken to the anti-terror branch of Mardin Security Directorate.

On the other hand, Turkish police raided the house of Democratic Regions’ Party (DBP) Party Assembly member Beritan Önen in Seyhan district of Adana province. Following a detailed search in her house, Önen was taken into custody.

Önen was reportedly detained due to a speech she had made at an event organised by the DBP in Mardin.
