Resistance vigil at Kobanê border continues

As the clashes between YPG (People's Protection Units) fighters and ISIS gangs continued until the early hours of the morning, protestors who have been keeping the vigil did not leave their positions, despite there being rain showers.

The clashes in Kobanê started at around 23:00 and continued until 04:00 in the morning. The people at the vigil did not leave their positions despite the showers and witnessed every minute of the clashes.

They supported the YPG fighters who repulsed the ISIS gangs in the clashes with the slogans "long live the resistance of YPG". The ISIS gangs opened fire on the vigil and fired mortars. The villagers keeping vigil at the border of Mersimêle were shot at with mortars last night.

Despite the heavy rain, the resistance vigil of the people in the villages of Siwêdê and Boydê to the west of Suruç district of Urfa and in the villages of Elizêr and Dewşen to the east of Suruç continued until the morning.

Although the rain which started in the night intensified in the early hours of the morning, the people did not leave their positions at the border. The citizens patrolled the borderline with motorcycles and maintained their control of the border.

The HDP (People's Democratic Party) deputies Ibrahim Ayhan and Aysel Tuğluk stayed awake until the morning with the protestors at the border. The protestors lit a fire, and sang and danced around the fire.

It is also reported that at around 2 in the morning unidentified gunmen opened fire on the people keeping vigil in the village of Boydê. No one was injured in the attack, but a large number of Turkish-made cartridge cases were found at the scene of the shooting.
