The burst of the 50 meters sewer line of TOKÝ (Housing Development Administration of Turkey) in Silvan/Diyarbakýr put the health of 350 families at risk.

The sewer line was chocked up many times before a year after the building. TOKÝ residents stated that the sewer line was mended with the objections of people but the reburst of the sewer line became a threat for their health. According to the residents, the excavations of the building was channeled on the plastic pipes.

HEALTH THREAT

Silvan Municipal has started with the renewal workings of the sewer line. Concerning the respect, Silvan Mayor Fadýl Erdede expressed that TOKÝ’s job of work has been threatening the health of people.

“There are 350 houses built with unstable materials by TOKÝ. The material they used became unusable with a light pressure. They also took money for it. This working is nothing short of defraudation. As seen, everywhere is fulfilled with sewer rests and water, which harms the environment and the land. As municipal, we are doing the works of building contractor for the health of our people.”

TOKÝ resident Yýlmaz Tabak states that the substructure and the material used are poor and says; “They made a short sewer line for so many houses. The material is poor and can’t weigh the drainage. So there are constant blockages and bursts.”

Underlining that this situation harms the environment and people, Tabak spoke as follows; “The reason is stealing from material. When we experienced the same problem a few times previously, they mended the lines but the problem is still continuing. The substructure must be built again.
