Sit-in in Amed condemning Imrali isolation

Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) and the Democratic Regions Party (DBP) members called attention to the isolation on Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan and the hunger strikes in Amed as they staged a sit-in protest after police intervention.

The HDP Amed Provincial Organization was set to make a statement in front of the Human Rights Monument in Koşuyolu Park in Bağlar district to express their concern over the indefinite-alternating hunger strike initiated by the political prisoners in Turkey’s prisons to protest the isolation on Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan, which is now on day 111.

The DBP and HDP provincial and district administrators, the Association of 78s and many citizens joined the action. The group was blocked by the police after entering the park. The police did not allow the press release on the grounds that it contained the words "isolation and hunger strike".

The demonstrators protested the police intervention with applause and staged a sit-in. After the sit-in, the activist left the park.
