A Syrian military court sentenced 9 of 16 Syrian Kurds who were on trial on 11 July on account of taking part in Newroz (the Kurdish New Year) celebration in Qamishlo city on 21 March. The court abated the 6- month to 4.
It is reported that while 7 others have been acquitted of ‘inciting violence’ and ‘instigating religious conflicts’ charges, all 16 have been banned from public services for the rest of their lives.
