TJKE to take to streets for Kobanê

The Kurdish women living in Europe will take to streets in solidarity with the Kobanê resistance on the initiative of The European Movement of Kurdish Women. Women will organize sit-down actions, rallies, human chains, marches in many centers in Europe, primarily in Germany. The aim of the actions is to take attention of the European public to the resistance in Kobane and to create sensitivity against the war.

The European Movement of Kurdish Women (TJKE) has issued a written statement calling on all the Kurdish women living in Europe to join the demos organized in support with the Kobanê resistance and to not to remain silent in the face of what is happening in Kobanê.

Announcing its action plan in protest against ISIS attacks, TJKE said marches, rallies, sit-in and human chain demos will be organized primarily in Germany and in Holland, Sweden and many other cities in Europe.

“The attacks launched on Kobanê from three directions since 15 September have been halted as a result of a determined resistance” said TJKE, adding that the siege of Kobanê from three directions in order to capture it was an extensive plan of the AKP government put into practice by ISIS.

TJKE further said Turkey's plan was to establish a buffer zone by capturing Kobanê and then to target the other cantons of Rojava in order to throttle the revolution. TKJE stressed that this plan has been halted for now but has not changed.

TJKE drew attention to the ongoing works in the Turkish parliament to prepare a basis for the buffer zone, adding that the Turkish state deliberately spread fabricated news about Kobanê's occupation in order to create panic among the people and to empty the region.

TJKE said reacting and being in action in defense of Kobanê and resisting against the attacks is essential at the moment, and added: “These attacks which target the gains of the Kurds aim to weaken our struggle. The imposition of genocide policies on Kurdish people bears the intention to hinder the efforts for the building of a democratic confederalism Leader Apo [Abdullah Öcalan] wants to develop."

KCK also stressed that the Kurdish women should not remain silent in the face of these policies and must step up the resistance for Kobanê.

The place and the date of the demos organized by TJKE are as follows:
