Turkey transfers a new batch of Syrian mercenaries to Libya

New batch of Syrian mercenaries arrives in Libya, while Turkey recruits more fighters.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported that Turkey has transferred a new batch of Syrian mercenaries to Libya. According to SOHR sources, this batch comprises fighters from Atarib city and other Syrian areas, who have been recruited in the ranks of “Sultan Murad Division” and “Sultan Mohammed Al-Fateh”, by other fighters who came in a visit to the area after being sent earlier to Libya.

“After recruiting new mercenaries, factions’ commanders coordinate with Turkish bases in areas under the control of “Olive Branch” faction in rural Aleppo to give each mercenary a sum of money as a “prepayment”, then each mercenary to authorize one of his relatives, whether being in Turkey or Syria, to receive his monthly salary,” SOHR said.

This development comes as a part of Turkey’s ongoing operations to transfer Syrian mercenaries to Libya to engage in fighting in the side of the “Government of National Accord” against Haftar’s forces.

According to SOHR statistics, the number of recruits who arrived in Libya up to date, rose to nearly 8,250 mercenaries, including a group of non-Syrian mercenaries, while nearly 3,300 others arrived in Turkey to undergo training courses.
