Two soldiers suspected of Coronavirus hospitalized in Van

The soldiers have been taken to hospital in the Van province bordering Iran.

Two soldiers from the Gendarmerie Commando Battalion Command in Başkale district have been referred to Van for treatment on Wednesday. The soldiers suspected to have been infected with Covid-19 had returned from leave 15 days ago.

According to reports, the two soldiers have been taken under treatment at the military hospital in Van and one of them is reported to be in critical condition.

The people of Van stay at home due to the coronavirus threat. The busiest spots of the city, such as the Fortress of Van and Edremit Beach have been completely deserted. Very few people are seen on the streets and they are wearing masks.

Authorities are not taking concrete steps, primarily the Governor of the city.

The city of Van is threatened with a rapid spread of Coronavirus as it is a border city across Iran where numerous people have died of the pandemic so far, and is home to a number of military stations.

Van houses 20 military commands and more than 30 military stations. There are 5,000 soldiers alone at the Gendarmerie Commando Battalion Command in the Başkale district.
