Huge explosion in Iran: At least 516 injured

A huge explosion occurred at the port in the city of Bandar Abbas, Iran, with the number of injured rising to 516.

A huge explosion occurred at Shahid Rajaee Port in the city of Bandar Abbas in southern Iran. The Hormozgan Provincial Emergency Management Department announced that 516 people were injured as a result of the explosion.

The explosion occurred as Iran began its third round of talks with the US in Oman, but the cause of the explosion is still unknown. 

Iranian media reported that the explosion was caused by several containers stored in the port's dock area. While the injured have been transported to hospital, some local sources claim that a large number of port workers were killed in the incident.

Authorities have announced that port operations have been suspended to extinguish the fire that broke out after the explosion.
