First sports complex in Kobane underway

In a joint effort by the Euphrates Region Local Governments and Municipalities Committee and the Youth and Sports Committee, construction started for the first sports complex in Kobane.

As part of the project launched as a joint effort by the Euphrates Region Local Governments and Municipalities Committee and the Youth and Sports Committee, construction started last week for the first sports complex in Kobane.

The existing stadiums in the city don’t have enough capacity to meet the needs of the athletes, and two football fields are out of commission due to a bad foundation and similar insufficiencies.

Youth and Sports Committee Co-chair Bozan Berkel said the stadium to be built as part of the new sports complex will be 150 meters by 70 meters.

The complex will also include a total of 74 halls for martial arts and other sports.

Construction is scheduled to be completed within one year.
