People of Kobanê march against isolation and Afrin invasion

People of Kobanê held a march for occupied Afrin. The people also spoke out against the isolation imposed upon Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan in the march.

People of Kobanê held a march led by the Democratic Society Movement (TEV-DEM) for the liberation of Afrin. Thousands gathered in the Free Women Monument Square, carrying posters of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan, flags of YPG, YPJ, SDF, TEV-DEM, PYD and TEV-CAND as well as photos of people who lost their lives in Afrin and signs pointing to the isolation imposed upon Öcalan.

ARABS, MIGRANTS AND EVERYBODY IN THE MARCH

All businesses other than bakeries and pharmacies closed down and their owners joined the march. Representatives from all institutions in the canton, and students and teachers of schools on vacation attended the march, as well as prominent people among the Arab people and clans, many women, children and elderly people, YPG/YPJ members and fighters who were wounded in clashes. People who had to leave Afrin were in the forefront. The march ended in the Freedom Square with chants of “Long live the Afrin resistance”.

Hêzên Parastina Civaki (HPC) and the Asayish ensured security for the march while checkpoints were set up throughout the city. Heyva Sor a Kurd set up medical units at several locations along the route.

“END THE INVASION AND THE ISOLATION”

Speakers said Afrin must be liberated and the isolation against Öcalan must end, and called to increase the struggle to that end.
