The 45th session of the Northern and Eastern Syria Autonomous Administration General Assembly was held in Raqqa.
Members of the general and legislative assemblies of civil and autonomous administrations and the Child Protection Office attended the meeting.
The meeting started with a minute’s silence. Then, the co-chair of the General Assembly of the Northern and Eastern Syria Autonomous Administration, Sîham Qeryo, expressed his condolences to Ferhad Şiblî's family and touched upon the attacks carried out by the invading Turkish state. Siham Qeryo said: "The invading Turkish state aims to defeat us by targeting our military forces, our patriotic people and our rulers. However, with these crimes, the Turkish state will not be able to defeat the will of the peoples of Northern and Eastern Syria."
Then, the co-chair of the Autonomous Administration Executive Council, Yasir Silêman, read the draft child law. After the participants gave their opinions and suggestions about the draft, some changes were made.
The law was then adopted. The law, which consists of 7 sections and 85 articles, is based on protecting children living in the Autonomous Administration regions. The law guarantees the rights of children and punishment for those violating them. Likewise, it protects culture and education. The law comes into effect as of Thursday.
