Autonomous Administration hands over ten ISIS orphans to France

The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria received a delegation from the French Foreign Ministry for the handover of ten children of killed French ISIS jihadists.

A delegation led by the former French ambassador to Syria, Eric Chevalier, arrived in the Democratic Federation of North and East Syria on Sunday. The delegation was received by the co-chair of the Office for Foreign Relations, Abdulkarim Omar.

Omar stated at a press conference after the meeting: "We have talked with the delegation about the trial of the imprisoned ISIS criminals. The delegation stressed that these perpetrators must be tried in North and EastSyria, as the witnesses and traces of the crimes are also located in the region. We hope to receive support from our French friends in this respect".

The consequences of the US sanctions and the closure of the border crossing at Til Koçer were also discussed, said Omar, and continued: "Both sides have stressed their support for the reopening of the border crossing in Til Koçer. We also discussed the options for building a democratic Syria".

The ten orphans were then handed over to the French delegation. The Autonomous Administration insists that children be handed over to the countries of origin of the parents or by parents together with their mothers. Many European countries are not prepared to accept children and mothers together.
