Farewell to two YPG fighters in Qamishlo

Thousands of people have paid their last respects to Şevreş Qamişlo and Hozan Peyaniş in northeastern Syria.

Under large participation the funeral of Qamişlo Şevreş and Hozan Peyaniş took place in the northeast Syrian city of Qamishlo. Thousands of people paid their last respects to the YPG fighters at the "Şehîd Delîl Sarûxan" cemetery of martyrs.

Şevreş Qamişlo was a member of the anti-terrorist units YAT. A week ago, he died in the East Syrian region of Deir ez-Zor during an operation against sleeper cells of the ISIS. On the other hand, war-disabled YPG fighter Hozan Peyaniş died in early June as a result of a serious illness.

The funeral ceremony began with a minute's silence for the martyrs. Afterwards, Ali Reş, the co-chairman of the Council of Martyrs’ Families, addressed a few words to those present. Reş said: "Young people from all parts of Kurdistan, with their willingness to make sacrifices, have created a unity and fought in the same ranks for the freedom of peoples and peace in our regions. It is our moral duty to live up to their memory by building Kurdish unity."

Salih Hesen of the PYD referred in a speech to the "achievements for a dignified life", which thousands of martyrs and the peoples of the region have selflessly fought for. "They gave their lives for our future. We always feel deeply connected to them."

After the speeches the certificates of death were read out and handed over to the relatives of the fighters. Afterwards Şevreş Qamişlo and Hozan Peyaniş were laid to rest under slogans.
