Four members of Internal Security Forces died in Manbij

Turkey-linked mercenaries continue to carry out attacks on Manbij. Four members of the Internal Security Forces (Asayîş) were killed in clashes.

According to the internal security forces of Northern and Eastern Syria (Asayîş), four of their members fell as martyrs on Tuesday in clashes with mercenary troops controlled by the Turkish state in Manbij. The fallen were named as Ehmed El Silêman, Yesir El-Misêtif, Cuma El-Hisên and Hesen El-Ebdula.

Manbij has been under attack by Turkey-linked mercenaries since 1 September. During a major attack last Friday, four siblings aged ten, fourteen, fifteen and seventeen were killed by Turkish artillery fire. On Saturday, a 70-year-old woman died in a village on the northwest front and other people were injured. The Manbij Military Council, which is affiliated with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), said on Monday evening that the attacks had so far been successfully repelled. According to information, numerous people have been displaced from the attacked villages due to the bombing and fighting.

Manbij is located 30 kilometers south of the Turkish border and occupies a key strategic position in Turkey's plans to expand its illegal occupation zone in northern Syria. The city, administered by the Autonomous Administration, is located on the important M4 motorway, which runs through northern Syria as a lifeline and has already represented a strategic supply route for ISIS.

In 2022, Manbij was named by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, alongside Tel Rifat, as the first target for a renewed Turkish invasion of Northern and Eastern Syria.
