Deir ez-Zor Civilian Council and the committees under it continue their efforts in the region after ISIS has been removed.
The Council’s Health Committee has implemented important projects to serve the people of the region and opened medical centers in Al-Jazirat, Al-Saiwa and Mihemide in western Deir ez-Zor.
Mihemide medical center serves 8 villages in western Deir ez-Zor and has recently started to serve the El-Ezbe and Mizile villages in the north.
At first, the Mihemide Medical Center was only a vaccination center for measles, polio and other such diseases. Currently the center treats diseases like Leishmaniasis and the ER treats broken bones, wounds, burns and similar issues.
Member of the medical center’s administration Dr. Yehya Bilal said despite their limited means, they offer free healthcare and the health committee continues to serve the region.
Bilal said there are 3 experts on women’s and general surgeries in the center, and 7 male and 4 female nurses on staff.
The Mihemide Medical Center has played an important role in the treatment of the Leishmaniasis epidemic in the region. The center treats 40 to 50 Leishmaniasis cases every day. The staff has also started vaccination efforts in villages.
The medical center was serving 4 patients a day when it was first opened, and now serves 60 to 80 patients.
