In Gire Spi city on the border between Syria and Turkey, people have been protesting for 12 days against the Turkish occupation threats.
Twelve days ago, people from the northern Syrian city of Gire Spi (Tal Abyad) moved to the border to stand as "human shields" against the Turkish threats of invasion. The action is supported daily by new participants. Today, hundreds of people from Tabqa, Raqqa, Deir ez-Zor, Manbij and the Euphrates region have joined the action to express their solidarity.
“THE TURKISH STATE DEEPENS THE CRISIS”
Gire Spi Assembly of Martyrs’ Families member Necah Mihemed, Euphrates Region Legislative Assembly Co-chair Fewziyê Ebdî and Raqqa Women’s Administration member Xaliyê Kejwan delivered speeches and expressed their objection to the Turkish state’s occupation attempts against the region.
Speakers highlighted the fact that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his party have been trying to deepen the crisis in the region, to disrupt stability and execute atrocity on people since the beginning of the Syrian crisis.
While women called for further resistance and struggle against the occupation forces, activists partaking in the protest announced that their action will continue until the threats of occupation are brought to an end.
