ISIS sleeper cell ammunition depot seized in Raqqa

The interrogation of captured ISIS members continues.

Internal Security Forces have seized an ammunition depot of an ISIS sleeper cell in Raqqa.

The North and East Syria's Internal Security Forces stated that the ammunition store was located in line with the confessions of the captured members of ISIS sleeper cells in the region.

Following an exploration accompanied by bomb-dismantling experts, the General Security Bureau seized a large quantity of ammunition including 120 mortar shells, 5 sniper rifles, 3 surveillance cameras, 1 laptop, 1 hand grenade, DShK cartridges, 45 Kalashnikov magazines.

The statement added that the interrogation of captured ISIS members and the fight against mercenaries continued.

In recent weeks there have been a large number of operations against cell structures of the so-called ISIS. Especially since the beginning of the Turkish invasion in the self-governing areas of North and East Syria, there has been an increase of ISIS activities not only in Rojava, but also in Southern Kurdistan and Iraq. So far, dozens of jihadists have been arrested by the Internal Security and Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

Local military councils are also taking action against the covert structures of the terrorist militia. Most recently, SDF anti-terror units neutralized a weapons and logistics smuggling network of the ISIS operating in Deir ez-Zor region. The network had been providing weapons and logistics for the sleeper cells that continue their terror attacks against civilians in the region. The successful operation thus averted several attacks and massacres which the mercenary organization had been making preparations for.

In late November, special units of the Manbij Military Council neutralized an ISIS cell that specialized in smuggling ISIS members from the Hol Camp to Turkey or the Turkish occupation zones in northern Syria.
