Kongra Star calls for international action to remove Turkey from Afrin

Kongra Star Rojava Coordination raised concern over the war crimes the Turkish forces have systematically committed in Afrin and said that the occupation forces should be removed from Afrin.

The Rojava Coordination of North-East Syrian women’s organization Kolngra Star released a written statement to mark the fourth anniversary of the Turkish invasion attacks on Afrin and the 58-day resistance against these attacks.

“4 years have passed since the attacks launched by the Turkish army and its mercenaries against Afrin. The Turkish army brutally bombed the civilian population with 72 fighter jets. It trampled humanitarian values and international norms in the presence of the whole world,” the statement said.

“The people of Afrin decided to reject this atrocity and resisted for 58 days, adopting the historical resilient stand of Avesta Xabûr and Barîn Kobanê. The people manifested their loyalty to Afrin lands,” the statement continued.

“Struggling to finally return to their homes, the displaced people are living under bad conditions in refugee camps near Afrin. The Turkish occupation forces and their mercenaries have been committing crimes against the land, nature, human values, culture and civilization for the last 4 years. The Turkish army has changed the demographic structure of the region and committed violence, massacre, abduction and all kinds of crimes against women.

We condemn these brutal crimes, the policy of genocide pursued against the people of Afrin, particularly against women and children, and the silence of the international community. We call on democratic organizations, women's organizations and all pro-freedom groups to expand the struggle and put an end to the occupation in Afrin.

On the other hand, we urge the UN, human rights institutions and the international community to fulfil their responsibilities and remove the Turkish occupation forces from Afrin.”
