Kongra Star said that struggle is the only way to ensure peace in the region and that they will resist the Turkish attacks with the spirit of 14 July.
Kongra Star Coordination issued a statement on the 40th anniversary of the 14 July 1982 hunger strike led by Kemal Pir, Hay Durmuş, Ali Çiçek and Akif Yılmaz in Diyarbakır prison.
The statement underlined the danger of the threats to invade Northern and Eastern Syria made once again by Turkey.
The statement also added that the importance of the 65-day struggle for freedom and rights in Amed prison was clearly understood.
The statement continued: "This resistance has turned into a spirit and ideology against democratic opposition states, the same states that want to destroy women's freedom. The Turkish government used all kinds of torture against the hunger strikers. It carries out a special and psychological war using any available tools. The fascist Turkish state could not defeat the people and the freedom movement despite all its efforts."
Pointing out that the invading Turkish state has rejected all kinds of peace initiatives since the eighties, the statement added that the attacks against the people in Rojava, Shengal, Maxmur and Medya Defense Areas have increased and chemical weapons have been used.
Kongra Star said that the people of the region did not remain silent about the attacks and added: “We will follow in the footsteps of the martyrs. We will increase our struggle. In the Diyarbakir Prison resistance, in Zap, Avaşîn and Metîna, in Rojava, in Kobanê, Afrin and Serêkaniyê we witnessed unprecedented epic resistances and we will write new epics.”
The statement called on all democratic forces to resist the aggressive Turkish state in the spirit of 14 July: “We invite people, parties and women's organizations to play a leading role under the leadership of organized women. We call on the struggling patriotic people to strengthen their loyalty to their lands against the threats of the invading Turkish state. There are only two ways to achieve peace in the region; resistance and struggle.”
